I am excited to serve our community in a new capacity as president of the Gilmore Lake Association. Now that Gilmore Lake is my year-round home, I look forward to getting to know more of my lake neighbors and building new friendships.

The Banker family has a long and meaningful history on Gilmore Lake. In 1940, my grandparents, Joe and Margaret Banker, purchased a resort on the north end of the lake’s large basin. Although the resort didn’t flourish quite as they had hoped, the cabins eventually found their way into the hands of various family members, creating a special Northwoods retreat for four generations of the Banker extended family.

Some of my happiest childhood memories were made on Gilmore Lake, where I learned to swim, fish, ice skate, and cross-country ski. The lake has always been more than a place to visit; it has been home to countless treasured memories and a place I have returned to throughout my adult life whenever time allowed.

In 2020, I purchased my own piece of property on the east shore, and in 2025, I made the move to live on Gilmore Lake full-time. It feels wonderful to come full circle and make this special place my permanent home!

For nearly three decades, I have dedicated my career to public education, mostly in the Madison metro area, serving as a high school English teacher, school librarian, principal, and, most recently, superintendent. I currently serve as superintendent of schools in Spooner. Beyond my work in education, I enjoy giving back to the community as a trustee on the Spooner Public Library Board and the Leadership Washburn County Board. I am also active in the Spooner Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club.

My two adult children were both "baptized in Gilmore Lake" and have grown up sharing in the joys of lake life. Our family’s connection to this beautiful place runs deep. You may notice that my property is color-washed in life-jacket orange—a heartfelt tribute to my late son, Quinn, who loved the Northwoods and was an avid outdoorsman.

I am also under the direct supervision of my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Bixby! You will likely spot him swimming around my dock or perched on lookout duty aboard my pontoon boat.

I am grateful for the strong foundation of lake stewardship, advocacy, and community engagement established by Fran McCloskey and the GLA Board over the past decade. I step into this role with appreciation for their dedication, a deep personal connection to the lake, and a commitment to working collaboratively with fellow members to protect and preserve all that makes Gilmore Lake so special.
